Enya is a 20-year-old from Germany. She is an active individual with a deep passion for travel, sports, and nature. Previously volunteering in Italy through the European Solidarity Corps (ESC), she currently divides her time between working on a farm and supporting an organization that distributes food to those in need.

Enya shares that it’s quite common for young Germans to spend a year abroad after high school. This is why, once she graduated, she started to look for opportunities abroad. Besides, Enya already volunteered in various fields before volunteering in Italy, so going abroad to volunteer seemed like a logical path to her. She wanted to live new experiences and experiment with different things. One day, her friend told her about the European Solidarity Corps (ESC). Enya started to look into it, and after some time and applications, she received a positive answer and left for Italy.

When asking about Enya’s daily life during her ESC experience, she explained that she resided on a farm alongside other volunteers while also working in a shop located in a neighboring town. Mornings were dedicated to preparing items and organizing deliveries. Additionally, she had the chance to join organic farmers in the fields, engaging in tasks like harvesting and soil work. Afternoons were usually free, allowing Enya to assist other volunteers or simply enjoy her leisure time. Since they were always minimum 10 people living on the farm, the atmosphere was quite good for everyone as they got along very well and created strong bonds.

After volunteering, Enya discovered new passions and keeps on going in the same field!

After she finished her ESC, Enya started working for that organization distributing food to people in need, she also travelled and is now also working on an organic farm which helps her understand the differences and similarities between farming in Italy and Germany. Her ESC experience played a crucial role in shaping her aspirations, leading her to discover her passion for horticulture. To delve deeper into her journey, be sure to listen to the podcast!

About Pauline Lebutte

My name is Pauline, I am 24 years old and from Brussels, Belgium. When I turned 18, I left for two years to work and travel through Australia, Southeast Asia and Europe. So, when I got my master’s degree in Conflict and Development Studies, it was only logical for me to go on and travel again! But this time I wanted to have a positive impact on our world and acquire some work experience and new competencies at the same time. So I decided to participate in the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) and volunteer for TDM 2000 in Cagliari! and especially volunteering for TDM 2000 in Cagliari was just perfect!
