We talked with Mehri, a long-term volunteer in Cagliari.
Mehri is volunteer in Cagliari, Italy. She is from Azerbaijan, from Baku. Last year she graduated from university with a degree in italian language translation. During her studies she was working on Azerbaijani TV as a presenter and correspondent
After the university she dediced to became a volunteer with the European Solidarity Corp program as a long-term volunteer. She decided to apply because it perfectly aligns with her interests in gaining international experience, improving her language skills, and meet new people. In her own words: “The opportunity to volunteer abroad not only allows me to contribute to meaningful projects but also provides a platform to interact with people from diverse backgrounds.”
“I want to show why human rights are important and how volunteering can make a big difference.”
Currently, Mehri’s volunteer work consists of promoting human rights, helping people understand their rights, encouraging them to volunteer, and making interesting things like videos and posts to talk about these topics. Also, she is going to different schools to do sessions about the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) and the Erasmus+ program.
Mehri has clear that this kind of experience is going to give her a solid solid foundation for her future work, as they provide her with the necessary skills and perspectives to effectively engage with and support young people from different backgrounds.
Once she return to Azerbaijan, she is excited to keep the spirit of my ESC volunteering project alive by sharing my experiences with the youth organizations she is part of. Being involved in various youth groups gives her a great chance. She plan to organize sessions and workshops where she can tell other members all about my time as a volunteer and my experiences.
She encourage other people to take part of this program, because they have the chance to explore their interests, passions, and values in a supportive environment. They may discover new strengths, interests, and career paths, and gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their place in the world.
Definitely, Mehri is in love with Italy and she is happy to enjoy this kind of opportunities!
